Tragic Shooting in Ohio: 2-Year-Old Boy Accidentally Kills Pregnant Mother

(Liberal Voice Network) – A tragic incident occurred in Norwalk, Ohio, where a 2-year-old boy accidentally shot his pregnant mother, resulting in her and the unborn child’s death, according to the Norwalk Police Department.

On June 16, just after 1 p.m., the 31-year-old mother contacted the police, reporting that she had been shot in the back by her own toddler son. She also mentioned that she was eight months pregnant during the distressing call. Shortly after, the husband dialed 911, explaining that his wife had called him in panic, urgently requesting him to contact emergency services.

Responding swiftly, officers arrived at the residence and had to forcibly enter through a locked front door. In the upstairs master bedroom, they discovered both the mother and her son, alongside a pistol. At the mother’s request, the child was immediately removed from the room, and the officers provided immediate medical assistance.

Remarkably, the mother remained conscious and provided authorities with a detailed account of the tragic events. Subsequently, her 28-year-old husband also arrived at the scene.

An ambulance transported the mother to a medical center, where an emergency C-section was performed in an attempt to save the unborn child. Sadly, both the unborn son and the mother were pronounced dead.

The police seized the firearm involved, as well as a spent shell casing, from the home. Notably, the pistol’s magazine was loaded with an additional 12 rounds.

During a search conducted by the Norwalk Police Department’s detective bureau, various child safety features were discovered throughout the house. Safety gates were present at nearly every doorway, and child locks were installed on all drawers. Further investigation led to the confiscation of an extra 12-round magazine for the pistol, which the 2-year-old had accessed from a nightstand in the master bedroom. Additionally, a Mossberg 12-gauge shotgun with six rounds and an airsoft rifle were found in the master bedroom closet and the computer room closet, respectively.

The investigation is ongoing, and at this time, no charges have been filed. The case will be forwarded to the Huron County Prosecutor’s Office for further review and decision-making.
